Brown Gravy

Fancy Ravioli

A traditional and delicious brown gravy, perfect for mashed potatoes. This gravy offers a rich and authentic flavor with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

30 mlbutter
30 mlwheat flour
1 pcsbeef bouillon cube
500 mlwater
7.5 mlsoy sauce
1.3 mlblack pepper

Instructions

Heat the water

Heat 500 ml water to a boil in a separate pot or kettle so it is ready to be added.

Melt butter and toast flour

Melt 30 ml butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 30 ml wheat flour and stir until smooth. Cook for a few minutes while stirring constantly until the mixture turns brown.

Add bouillon

Crumble 1 pcs beef bouillon cube into the saucepan with the flour and mix until smooth.

Whisk the sauce

Gradually add the water to the flour and bouillon mixture while whisking constantly to ensure the gravy is lump-free.

Thicken the sauce

Let the sauce simmer gently for a few minutes, stirring constantly, until it reaches the desired consistency.

Season and taste

Season the sauce with 7.5 ml soy sauce and 1.3 ml black pepper. Stir well and adjust seasoning to taste.

Serve

Serve the brown gravy hot, for example with mashed potatoes.
