Brown Gravy
A traditional and delicious brown gravy that pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes. This sauce offers a rich and authentic flavor with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients
Steps
Heat 500 ml water to a boil in a separate pot or kettle so it is ready to be added.
Melt 30 g butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 18 g wheat flour and stir until smooth. Cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture is brown.
Crumble 1 beef bouillon cube into the pan with the flour and stir until smooth.
Gradually add the water to the flour-bouillon mixture while whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
Allow the sauce to simmer gently for a few minutes while stirring constantly until it thickens to the desired consistency.
Season the sauce with 7.5 ml soy sauce and 1.25 ml black pepper. Mix thoroughly and check the taste.
Serve the brown gravy hot, for example, as a side dish for mashed potatoes.
